HOW?

Join a club as a full timer being a Group Exercise Coordinator. You may think that to get that post, you will need to have lots of experience and qualifications. Tell you a secret, most experienced instructors:

  • do not like to be tied down as a full timer.
  • do not like to do any other extra work other than teaching.
  • do not like to manage people and attend meetings.
  • want to have freedom of moving from club to club.
  • have already a huge pool of classes or clientele and do not wish to give them up.
  • tend to earn much more in their present state.

So Fitness Clubs always face the difficulty of getting Group Exercise Coordinators. This is the chance if you are willing to learn and take up responsibilities that comes with the job. It is also a huge stepping stone for New Group Fitness Trainer.

Get yourself certified in at least 3 group exercise programs and show your passion. You will most probably be offered the job.

Once you’ve got the coordinator role, you are entitled to the following advantages:

  • a confirmed number of classes (ie. a steady stream of income), and you may even get to teach more classes as you almost have full control over the group exercise schedules.
  • choose the timing of classes you want to teach.
  • arrange the classes in a manner that is most convienient for for you e.g. back to back.
  • teach the kind of classes you want.
  • trainings for courses tend to be sponsored.
  • on top of the above you are entitle to CPF and year end-bonuses as per full timer.

So it is a fantastic way and a great stepping stone to climb up the Fitness ladder with lighting speed. You may be pressured to learn things at a much faster pace, and will tend to pursue many other training programs and most important learn to manage people.

Members or other Instructors no longer see you as somebody new, you are given a certain kind of respect almost immediately.
