<span style="FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial"><span style="font-size: small;">One of the most important traditions of MuayThai is &#8220;Wai Kru&#8221; (Paying respect to your parents, maters, teachers and trainers) and the philosophy which it encapsulates. Wai Kru is an ancient custom which is closely bound to the fundamental Thai concept that provides of knowledge are all teachers &#8212; and are worthy of utmost respect. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial"><span style="font-size: small;">In the pecking order, the &#8220;kru yai&#8221; or headmaster. Between teachers &#8212; parents, educators, trainers or mentors &#8212; and their students a special relationship is believe to exist, one which will endure and leave a lasting impression. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial"><span style="font-size: small;">Likewise, the bond between those who study under the same teacher is regarded as being parallel to kinship, so that such students refer to each other as &#8220;pee nong&#8221;, brothers and sisters. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial"><span style="font-size: small;">When students seek knowledge from their teacher, they first offer symbols of respect: flowers, garlands, incense-sticks and candles. </span></span></p>

<strong>Informing the Spirits Ceremony (Buwong Suwong)</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial"><span style="font-size: small;">The enduring beliefs of the Thai people in the unseen, the spirits which inhabit all places and have to be kept happy or, if necessary, appeased when they are angry. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial"><span style="font-size: small;">There are visible signs of this redolent animism which coexists quite happily with the dominant Buddhism in the little spirit-houses which are to be found in the corners of many gardens and elsewhere. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial"><span style="font-size: small;">Looking like little pagodas elevated on a &#8220;bird-table&#8221;, tiny offerings of food and drink will be presented to the occupants, who likewise are informed of any major happenings in the lives of the people in the &#8220;big house&#8221;.<br />

<strong>Initiation as a Trainee Fighter (Kuen Kru, Yok Kru)</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial"><span style="font-size: small;">A much more sumptuous and elaborate version of this tradition is the Buwong Suwong ceremony which must be held prior to the Annual Homage-Paying Ceremony and Initiation as a Teacher rituals. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial"><span style="font-size: small;">(In the case of the Initiation as a Trainee Fighter rites, which can be regarded as a personal contract between teacher and newly-accepted student, not involving the spirits of teachers past, it is an optional requirement.)</span></span></p>
<p><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial"><span style="font-size: small;">The ceremony is performed by Brahmin priests who in form the spirits of what is about to take place ask their permission to proceed and also invite them to attend if they are so inclined.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial"><span style="font-size: small;">A special banquet is laid on for the spirits, the menu varying according to a whole range of factors, including to the favorite dishes of the particular deity to whom a special is being made. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial"><span style="font-size: small;">A pig&#8217;s head, chicken, desserts and fruit are typical offerings, along with candles, incense sticks, flowers and other gifts.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial"><span style="font-size: small;">Another customary offering is a symbolic amount of money, like nine Baht, &#8220;nine&#8221; in Thai being &#8220;gao&#8221;, a word which, with a different Thai spelling but identical pronunciation, also means &#8220;to step forward or advance&#8221;, giving it a hidden propitious significance.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial"><span style="font-size: small;">Students pledge in front of the teacher that they will be diligent and hard working, and that they will respect and obey the teacher, following his rulings to the letter. </span></span></p>

<p><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial"><span style="font-size: small;">This ceremony is held annually throughout Thailand in schools, universities or wherever else learning, or whatever sort, take place. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial"><span style="font-size: small;">Where Muay Thai is concerned, it is held either on MuayThai Day (17th March) or any other traditionally propitious day, and requires the trainee fighters to show their respect for and gratitude to their teachers.</span></span></p>

<p>I have a lot of people asking me questions regarding what an exercise fitness trainer actually makes for teaching classes. Some people don&#8217;t really think a body fitness exercise instructor earns much. I can&#8217;t really say that all exercise fitness trainer earns the same, but I can roughly share with you some rough gauge on the question.<span id="more-94"></span></p>
<p> First, Group Exercise Fitness Trainer seldom earns a salary unless they are full timers. Even so depending on their contract most do not have a fix salary. Most often, they are paid by the hour or a flat rate per class that they teach.  How much is the per class rates depends on a few factors:</p>
<ul>
<li>Experience &#8211; Very seldom a club will give you a raise unless you are popular and you are able to pack the classes that you teach. With experience you will definitely gain popularity among the members.</li>
</ul>
<p> </p>
<ul>
<li> Club Exclusivity- To be exclusive to a club means you won&#8217;t be able to teach at other clubs, which is normally their competitors. Normally you will get a   minimum number of classes per week and you may ask for a higher class rates. Depending on the company, you can also ask for benefits like bonus, course sponsorship and etc.</li>
</ul>
<p> </p>
<ul>
<li>Class Attendance &#8211;  You may depend on the class numbers to ask for a higher per class rate, of cause the numbers have to be good in order for the club to justify the amount they pay you.</li>
</ul>
<p> </p>
<ul>
<li>Commission basis &#8211; for instance you are paid according to the number of students in your class. Some clubs charge their members for the workouts exercises class and you may have a percentage of it, somewhere from 60 &#8211; 40 or 70 -30. Of cause you get the higher percentage. You may get to earn quite a bit if you have a full class but also very much less if the class numbers drop example when it is near some  festive seasons where members go away.</li>
</ul>
<p> </p>
<p>As an average per class rates, <strong>a lowest of $40 to a high of $150 per class</strong> is possible. If you are willing to work hard, you can easily hit a <strong>five figure salary per month</strong>. That is not bad as compare to most of my peers of the same age.</p>

<p>This morning before I was about to start teaching an early morning Yoga class, a member came up to me and say, &#8220;Melvyn you have put on weight, having a lot of good food lately?&#8221; There goes my day. Yes I know I have been a little lazy on my own workouts routines and have been snacking on potato chips at night. I&#8217;ve noticed my waist line getting bigger, just hoping that nobody would notice. Well, after what that member had said, its a wake up call for me to watch my waist line.<span id="more-43"></span></p>
<p>Got to start planning for my routine for exercise to keep up with the exercise fitness trainer look, can be pretty stressful as people are looking up to you as a role model.</p>
<p>Many people complain about the high cost of food products, part of which is the cost of attractive packing which the consumers consciously or subconsciously demand. Without attractive packaging, no product can successfully compete. There is a lesson in this for people. The lesson is, package yourself for success! Your package is all that others see and they do not see your wisdom or your wit at first. What they see is how you look.</p>
<p>No matter how hard you try to project your personality through your appearance, remember that what others are seeing constantly is your appearance. Your appearance is talking to others constantly when you are not even saying a thing.</p>
<p>A good healthy look is relatively important as people are looking at you at all times. You have to teach what you preach. Your students want to be like you, some wants to look like you. I always get questions like &#8211; “How long does it take to look like you or be as good as you”, etc. I have seen personal trainers that are overweight, and what I mean by overweight? With a big belly bulging out and the word Personal Trainer on their shirt. Just don&#8217;t really go well together.</p>
<p>As a Personal Trainer, they are suppose to help their clients achieve their goal and most of the time their goal is about losing weight and looking good, how to be convincing if they themselves need help in that area.</p>
<p>Having said that, there are also great group exercise fitness trainer that are overweight and they still teach very good Workouts exercises classes. Some of my peers are on the bigger side and they are great motivators. Just as long you do not want to look sloppy, unkempt, or having that “just-out-of-the-bed” look. You are like sunshine to your students, so do put a big smile on your face no matter how tired you are in all your classes.</p>
<p>Some of your students may already had a bad day at work, or they may be feeling a little low in energy, coming to your class is the last thing they can do in trying to cheer themselves up so they definitely wouldn’t want to see another gloomy face in class.</p>
<p>It is always good to have a neat and clean look. For ladies, light make-up is fine, but avoid putting on too heavy make-up as if you are going to a party. I have seen female exercise fitness trainer going to the washroom touching up on their make-up at every interval of their classes. I think that’s a little too much.</p>
<p>Your attire in class will reflect who you are too. However, you don&#8217;t need a whole new wardrobe every six months to teach. As long as clothes are clean and hole-free they are fine. Choose clothing that allows your students to see your body when you demonstrate a pose, but keep your clothes in good taste. Students can be put-off by immodestly low-cut tops on female exercise fitness trainer.</p>
<p>Ok I think its time for me to watch my diet a little and get back to my own workouts routines, judging from experience, its better to teach what you preach. Appearance really counts as an exercise fitness trainer, so let&#8217;s walk the walk and talk the talk.</p>

<p>One of the great results from becoming a  personal exercise fitness trainer cum group exercise instructor is that your income will develop as you develop. Of course, how much money you generate will be entirely up to you and your skills. Coming out with great workouts program and giving weight lose motivation.<span id="more-32"></span></p>
<p>The more skillful you are, the more you can hope to charge your clients, but, only in a legitimate way. Never try to influence your clients to pay for more than you can give them. Teaching body fitness exercise or helping others acheive their goal can provide you with an income that will entirely depend on how much effort you are willing to put into it.</p>
<p>Some Instructors can command as much as $250 per client, although, on average, an Instructor might earn up to $80 per client or per class. Your fee will be based on your experience, knowledge, and popularity as an exercise fitness trainer. When you feel ready to up your fee to $250 per client, you must then prove yourself worthy of such a sum.</p>
<p>Following is an estimate of how much income you can generate in your profession in the fitness industry:</p>
<p>For a minimum rate of $50 (on the low end) per client/class, per hour and 2 client/classes a day. You will earn $100.<br />
Multiply that by 5 (the number of days in a week) and you’ll be looking at an income of <strong>$500 per week</strong>, or <strong>$2,000 per month</strong>.<br />
And, that’s just only for <strong>two hours a day</strong>. So you can see that the potential for earning a substantial income is great.</p>
<p><strong>How about a five-figure monthly income?</strong> Not too shabby, is it? Teaching body fitness exercise as an income-generating activity? Why not? Okay, let’s do the Math again. Of course, whatever you earn depends on how much time you’re willing to invest. Suppose we look at a person who, as a body fitness exercise professional, works six days per week, with an average of five clients/classes per day.</p>
<p><strong>*Five classes at $50 per hour              =                  $250.00<br />
  Six days per week                              =                  $1,500.00<br />
  Earnings per month                           =                  $6,000.00</strong></p>
<p>But, see, here we are only figuring a rate of $50, which is the norm for someone just starting out in the club fitness industry. Of course, as you gain experience and knowledge, your hourly rate will increase in a natural way to a range of between $70 and $100.<br />
However, if you are teaching a client/class at the rate of $80 per hour, your income should be:</p>
<p><strong>*Five classes at $80 per hour                =                   $400<br />
  Five days per week                              =                   $2,400<br />
  Potential monthly earnings                  =                   $9,600</strong></p>
<p>The potential to earn a five-figure income is truly great, but, wait! Let’s just say that you add two more clients/classes per week. What sort of income will that generate? You are looking at an income that approximates <strong>$2,560 per week, or $10,240 per month!!! </strong></p>
<p>As I mentioned before, your hourly rate will increase even as you gain experience and as your popularity improves. This means, naturally, that you must put all your effort and diligence to play. The potential for a very comfortable style of living is great, but, it’s up to you to provide the drive and the hard work. <strong>TRUST ME – THIS TYPE OF INCOME IS VERY POSSIBLE!!! </strong>Make no mistake about that.</p>
<p>With fitness centers opening everywhere in the world, especially Asia, the opportunities abound for a charismatic leader who can provide clients with the best that You can offer.</p>

<p>Do you think it is <strong>possible to make $120 per hour</strong> for a body fitness exercise class? <strong>Definitely, it can be done</strong>. My dear friend Dr Venky, he charges up to $150 per hour per workouts exercises. Do you think I must have his kind of qualification to command that kind of money? Actually no, not really. We need to think how you can come out with a marketing strategy, so let’s sit down and put on our thinking cap.<span id="more-26"></span></p>
<p>It can be of any kind of workouts exercises, yoga, pilates, kickboxing, hip hop and etc. Come out with a routine for exercise that you are strong at and then market yourself. Like us, we would like to make the greatest amount of money in the shortest amount of time so that you can spend the other waking hours of your day enjoying the other parts of your life that make you happy too.</p>
<p>Ok now you need to ask yourself, “Who or which organization will pay me $120 for an hour of my time?” There may be a gym out there willing to pay you that kind of hourly rate, but you have to be a star Instructor to command that kind of rates. I mean your body fitness exercise classes must be filled to the brim and new people are coming in like ants to honey to join the club because of you, then any clubs or gyms will be very willing to pay you that kind of rates.</p>
<p>The highest I’ve seen a club pay one single instructor, though, was $80 for one workouts exercises class, so if you have your sights set on bigger numbers, you’ll need to think bigger.</p>
<p>Now who else will pay me $120 an hour? If you have great instruction skills and are qualified, there are always opportunities for you to give private sessions in whatever you are good at. There are a lot people who would prefer you to bring your services to their door step, whether its one on one, husband and wife or with their family members.</p>
<p>With privates, you charge whatever you want and keep the entire amount. Still, if you market yourself right, you are able to earn quite a substantial amount of money for your precious time.</p>
<p>Ever thought about <strong>teaching in condos, or a small private group</strong>. You can market yourselves to individuals who pay to take your “class&#8221;. By charging a group of six people $20 each to be in your orkouts exercises class, that&#8217;s a $120 an hour! You can set six as a minimum and if there is more its a bonus. But will people want to pay $20 for a fitness class?</p>
<p>Well like what I&#8217;ve said earlier, people especially housewives with small young children wouldn&#8217;t like to travel all the way out to a city to take a class and then travel all the way back home. They will save all the travelling and watch over their kids play outside the function room with their maid if you can bring the body fitness exercise classes to their door step. By the way, $20 is about the same price as the gyms or studios would charge.</p>
<p>Again, think a little bit more creative. They want advice specific to a need or a want they have. You could provide a six week yoga classes for the children during school holidays. You could offer functional training workouts exercises to prepare members for marathon.  You could hold a <strong>“Boot Camp”</strong> for the obese kids in schools.</p>
<p>If you are an expert in a field, you could offer highly-advanced classes for the members who like what you offer and want to get better than the general levels can offer.  Or, you could offer a series of classes designed for participant with any special need or goal. Have I got your mind flowing yet?</p>
<p>Think of places where you can <strong>teach people in bigger numbers</strong>, how about schools? Depending on the numbers of students whether you are teaching in a classroom or in the school hall, you can set your hourly rate from at least $120 or even more. Due to the numbers of students at a time, the $120 will be divided into very small fractions the students have to pay and most don&#8217;t even think twice about the fees if they want to join the class.</p>
<p>Corporate companies, that is another area that you can charge higher fees, normally Its either the company pays for the employee&#8217;s as work welfare, partially subsidised or the staffs themselves will pay. If the staff themselves are paying, again due to the numbers joining the class, the bigger the number, the cheaper each person have to pay you. thus they wouldn&#8217;t mind you charging them higher.</p>
<h2><strong>Potential Ideas :</strong></h2>

<li>Corporate Companies</li>
<li>Private Events</li>

<p>So now that you have the idea that you are potentially worth more than $60 per class, So how about trying to think a little bigger than that. Do you think you are able to command $250 per body fitness exercise class? Since you are already thinking why not think bigger, $2,500 per hour?</p>
<p>Do not underestimate yourself, you can hold a body fitness exercise conference. Giving talks like &#8220;body for life for women&#8221;, or &#8220;fast weight loss exercise for overweight kids&#8221;, or some weight lose motivation talk and the list goes on. Do some brainstorming on your marketing strategy, think out of the box, you will be surprise what you can come out with and I can&#8217;t wait to hear that from you!!!</p>

<p>During an economy downturn, most companies will be affected and the fitness industry won&#8217;t be spared either. Right now, we are entering a financial crisis. The main point is to recognize the situation and do what you need to do to be prepared. Fitness centers or any workouts exercises class can be hit hard during slow economic times as people are spending less and are more careful with their spending.<span id="more-16"></span></p>
<p>You see, the regular employees&#8217; company is still hit by an economic downturn, but that employee isn&#8217;t usually bothered with the details of this…unless they get laid off.</p>
<p>If business is slow and the class numbers drop, you can be more creative at marketing to new students, you can give more “personal touch” for the students and have a better student retention. Let&#8217;s focus on what you can do to have better retention of existing students, and at the same time increase the number of new students and make them committed to your class.</p>
<p>Everybody like to feel special and important. We love to have that personal attention and feel that we are well taken care of. In fact it is so important that not only we instructors have to do this, in fact we have to work as a team from the receptionist to the cleaners. Everybody have to play a part to make every student or member feel good about coming to the classes or the centers. Let me simply explain what this has to do with the Fitness industry.</p>
<p>There&#8217;s this Thai restaurant in Bankok that was recommended by my friend. It&#8217;s very popular with both the locals and the tourists, they are always so busy and you definitely need an advance booking to get a table. The waiters make sure they get your name and will always address you by name. Every time I go, the chef will come out at some point during the meal to greet us and make sure if we like the food. He&#8217;ll shake my hand and joke that it&#8217;s my birthday, next thing you know, a group of waiters will crowd around our table and start singing me a Happy Birthday song. He&#8217;ll then bring out a complimentary whole carrot cake with candles for us. He will do that for almost every table. It makes the place so lively.</p>
<p> The result? This restaurant is definitely my top choice when it comes to Thai food and it became one of my favorites ever since. The total experience I have eating at this place is exceptional.</p>
<p>You get the picture? It is just as important to create a personal exceptional experience as it is to teach great fitness classes. This is very valuable info for helping you to improve our Fitness center or any fitness classes that you teach in general. Giving that <strong>extra service, that extra mile</strong>. Get to know your members or students better, create some sort of rapport with them.</p>
<p>In this way, your members will be more committed and will most likely to refer more friends to join your group workouts exercises. As they continue at your group exercise classes, they feel there is someone who knows them and can help if they have any questions or problems. They are far more likely to remain as a regular student at your group exercise classes and tolerate price increases without considering other fitness centers. Also, the refferal rates by these members will be higher.</p>
<p>Remember, if you improve your Fitness centers and your workouts exercises during an economic downturn, when better time comes,  your workouts exercises class will be very popular and well receive. You will be the only one that can make this happen and is time to be creative and work smart and you&#8217;ll weather this storm just fine.</p>

<p>Just a few days ago I heard fron my colleague that the club is going to cut about 10 workouts exercises classes from each club and at the same time we also got an email from the coordinator that the management is looking into the class numbers and is going to take out classes that has poor attendance. Reasons due to the econormic downturn.<span id="more-4"></span></p>
<p>Then on the eve of New Year&#8217;s Day, the management decided to cut we exercise fitness trainer rates. It&#8217;s very depressing to recieve that before the New Year. Looks like even the the fitness giants will have to face the wrath of the world financial crisis. This is something that we exercise fitness trainer would not like to hear.</p>
<p>I think its about time we come out of our comfort zone and start thinking of how to save the situation. For us body fitness exercise instructor, classes are money, losing classes means taking a pay cut. Well during these time, everybody are prepared to take a pay cut but whether if its a small or big one depends on us.</p>
<p>Unless the company is suffering badly and has to cut even the good classes, otherwise there is always ways to help ourselves. Its Time to make things happen and not wait for things to happen.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s face the reality, the numbers are what make or break you. How to boost the numbers for your workouts exercises class? Most people love new or fresh stuff, how about we go on to the Internet and check out new workouts program that we can introduce to our clubs.</p>
<p>Do some research and check out the popular workouts program. There are a lot of home study workouts routines programs that can easily pick up and start teaching in our clubs.</p>
<p>Ask around if you have some expats or people who travel alot in your classes about the body fitness exercise classes they do in other countries. They may tell you what&#8217;s popular in that country that is not found here in Singapore or Asia.</p>
<p>Time to upgrade! Take some new workouts program courses and attend seminars. Get to know what&#8217;s new in the market or simply improve on our teaching.</p>
<p>Be a student, attend other teacher&#8217;s classes especially the popular ones, learn how the teacher communicate with the members and how he focus on his teachings. Observe how he/she creates the atmoshpere, fun, full of energy, do you feel a sense of accomplishment after the class. Notice his/her workouts routines if you can learn something new and incorporate into your own teachings.</p>
<p>The bottom line is trying to improve yourself and keep coming out with new workouts program whether it is for muscle building routines or fast weight loss exercise. If you can<strong> command good numbers</strong> for your body fitness exercise classes, you are pretty much <strong>indispensable.</strong></p>
